GoPro Karma Drone Crash

Please help us to find bad videos. Broken or unappropriated video content?
A crash on our second flight with the GoPro Karma Drone. The recall of the unit was a must before someone got hurt.

Edit (11/08/2016) Time to move on to the Mavic?

Our Karma drone from GoPro lost GPS signal and seemed to take over the flight on its own. I saw a couple of videos where others had the exact same problem (one from iJustine that I thought was staged. I don't think that any longer). Once the GPS dropped out (we are in an area where that is not normally a problem) the controls appeared to have gone dead. They didn' respond to our manual control or the "return home" feature/button. It seemed that the "lost GPS signal" warning on the controller locked any other function out. The "warning" seems to be a fatal flaw in the operation of the Karma.

Much like when you are starting the drone up when getting started, you cannot do ANYTHING else until you respond to the warning (examples are: insert stabilizer, insert camera, etc.)

This was very disappointing for day 2 of our ownership. The crash resulted in 2 broken arms, 4 broken props, a damaged stabilizer, and a sad 14 year old kid!

The video shows how the drone reacted when the signal dropped. The camera snapped to horizontal and the drone appeared to turn and accelerate. We were helpless with no control.

I hope that GoPro can get things right with this drone since the concept works. I do like the "system" rather than an all in one unit like the DJI Mavic. The rush to production certainly didn't help. There were some build issues with our drone. The battery does not insert without force that feels like something is about to snap and there is something substantial floating in the body of the drone.

The UI on the Hero 5 could also use some work. I have many pet peeves, but will save those for another day.

If your GPS has trouble connecting on the ground, you might want to be a little more careful during flight. If I had it to do over, I probably wouldn't have gone higher than 20' during the first few flights. Live and learn.
